FAQ - The Williamsburg Winery

Frequently Asked Questions and Policies

Is there a picnic area at The Winery?

The 1619 Wine Pavilion serves as our primary picnic area.   It is a two-level covered deck plus patio located next to the Gabriel Archer Tavern and across from the Wine Shop.  In addition to the 1619 Wine Pavilion, several picnic tables are located near our Duck Pond.  Guests can order lunch to-go from the Gabriel Archer Tavern and/or purchase artisanal cheese, charcuterie, and other snacks from our Wine Shop. All picnic areas close when the wine shop closes as required by ABC regulations.

May I bring my children to the Winery?

We have several areas on our property that are perfect for families to spread out, enjoy our green space, and breathe in the fresh air – such as our Duck Pond Picnic Area.

We do ask that all children 12 years of age and under be accompanied/supervised by an adult at all times.   The upper level of the 1619 Wine Pavilion is reserved for those 21 and up only.

May I bring my pet to the Winery?

As required by the Virginia Department of Health, pets are not allowed inside The Williamsburg Winery, the Gabriel Archer Tavern, Wedmore Place, Wine Bars, or inside the covered deck area at the 1619 Wine Pavilion.

Well-behaved, leashed dogs are permitted on the patio and lawn adjacent to the 1619 Wine Pavilion as well as at the Duck Pond Picnic Area.

No more than two dogs per party.

Trained and certified service dogs are permitted in all public areas.

Is there food for purchase at The Winery?

The winery has a restaurant on site: the Gabriel Archer Tavern serves lunch seven days a week as well as brunch on Sundays and dinner Friday and Saturday. Looking for something lighter?   Artisanal snacks, including cheese and salami, are available for purchase in the Wine Shop.

How can I make a large group reservation?

Our outdoor spaces are ideal for larger groups.   We can seat tables of up to 6 people at our 1619 Wine Pavilion. Larger parties will be divided between multiple tables. Seating is first-come, first-served and no reservations are accepted.   Groups of up to 10 people are welcome at the picnic tables by our Duck Pond.   Snacks and bottles of wine may be purchased from our Wine Shop for the Duck Pond Picnic Area.  For lunch or dinner reservations for parties of up to 10 people, please call the Gabriel Archer Tavern directly at (757) 564-8869.

Buses, limos, or parties larger than 10 guests (i.e. weddings, corporate events and private parties) need to arrange their visit in advance with our team. Please contact (757) 229-0999 ext 132 to check our availability and make arrangements to rent one of our special event venues.
