The Winemaking Team

Our wines compete on a world stage thanks to the talents of Winemaker Stacey Lightfoot. Stacey, an alumna of Stockton College with a BS in environmental studies and a minor in Chemistry, embarked on her career in water testing labs before joining Williamsburg Winery just before the 2006 harvest season. With an impressive 17-year tenure full of experience and expertise, she artfully crafts the winery’s flagship brands and fan favorites in tandem with creating innovative wines that showcase the best of Virginia’s terroir. Stacey embraces the artistic concept in winemaking that goes hand in hand with applying modern technology. The dedication and innovation of the entire team continues to elevate Virginia as a significant wine producing region and industry leader.

Virginia Peninsula
American Viticultural Area

The Virginia Peninsula is the commonwealth’s newest American Viticultural Area (AVA), a distinction only awarded to areas with unique geographic features that distinctly affect the flavor of the wine. A subtropical climate, extended growing season and maritime features similarly to the weather patterns of Bordeaux distinguish Virginia’s eighth AVA, home to five wineries, including the largest, the Williamsburg Winery.
